Experience

 

Director of Development for The Olson Company (2005-2006):   Due diligence and presentations to Investment Committee.  Responsible for Pro Formas and accurate understanding of market trends, pricing, product, buyers, cost, planning, environmental and engineering issues.  Processed entitlements for five residential communities in greater San Diego, with a pro forma value exceeding $200 million.  Lobbied elected officials and staff.  Presented to Planning Commissions, Design Review Boards, and City Councils.  Worked closely with technical consultants.

 

Land Acquisition & Forward Planning for Brehm Communities (2003-2005): Analyzed hundreds of potential land acquisitions for the Director of Planning and the President, and placed $23 million of land into escrow.  Created master development schedule for construction of a $230 million, 512 dwelling unit master planned community.

 

Project Manager for Rancho Cielo Estates, Ltd. (2001–2003):   Prepared a two hundred million dollar budget, pro forma, and schedule for a master planned community in one of the world’s most exclusive neighborhoods. 

 

Owner’s Representative for Sony (1995–2001):   Managed industrial and office projects totaling $37 million in Northern Mexico and Silicon Valley, California.

 

Owner’s Representative for Invensys Power Systems (1998-2000):   Managed site selection, and negotiated lease-build-to-suit with an optional synthetic lease, working closely with real estate director in London and legal counsel in Los Angeles and Tijuana. Managed design and construction, and delivered a world-class 272,000 square foot R&D Manufacturing Center in Tijuana, Mexico.

 

Project Manager for bi-national retail partnership (1993-1994):   Prepared business plan for international retail development fund.  Managed land acquisition, design, and construction of a 15,000 square foot retail center for Jack In The Box and Blockbuster Video in Mexicali, Mexico; this location broke worldwide sales records. 

 

Project Manager (1987 to 1995):   Project manager for landowners, contractors, and developers in Chicago, San Diego, and Mexico.  Prepared presentation to University of Chicago trustees for a 7-story downtown educational facility (Gleacher Center).  Led a local Mexican contractor to compete and win a Design-Build contract for a 160,000 square foot facility for Bose in San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico.

 

Futures & Options Trader (1982-1986):  Pioneered trading of stock index futures and options and agricultural options at Chicago Board of Trade and Chicago Board Options Exchange.

 

Banker (1980-1981):          Credit analyst and banking trainee at First National Bank of Chicago.
